The last time 3eb came to Dallas was 2 years ago, and I didn't want to miss it. They played classics like "jumper", "never let you go" and "crystal baller." They also played some new songs off of their upcoming album which they promised would be released in August.

The show was a type of starry theme, with a starlit background, lights surrounding Brad's drumset, and a screen with images of constellations/moons etc.. The band did an acoustic set on a duct taped couch in the middle of their performance. During the acoustic set Stephan played a song called 1 in 10, which, he said, would be on their new album. He explained that it was about a girl who is a news anchor that he has a "huge crush on" but she ended up being a lesbian. This was the most humorous song of the night, and i can't wait until the album comes out solely for this awesome song.

3eb had a 3ish song encore including "slow motion" as one of those songs. The graphic song was amazingly lit with red lights, which reflects the song's morbid awesome lyrics.

Miss Jones taught me English But I think I just shot her son 'Cause he owed me money With a bullet in the chest you cannot run. Now he's bleeding in a vacant lot The one in the summer where we used to smoke pot I guess I didn't mean it But man, you should've seen it His flesh explode.
The show was not only sold out, it was over-sold. The ballroom was so packed there was barely any room to breathe, which makes an awesome concert. The older crowd was loud and enthusiastic the whole show. Last night lead singer Stephan Jenkins tweeted, "Dallas was rediculous. Over crowded packed super fanny fucking of a rock show!"

Hopefully the new album will be the typical amazing 3eb that we all love.

--KJ

i think ill keep blogging.

But it wont be "news" necessarily.

that way i wont only be a "twit"

Rock against AIDS

A benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall featured indie artists to team up and battle AIDS on Sunday night during the Dark Was the Night Live show.

Some of the artists at the benefit show were Feist, Bon Iver, David Byrne and Shara Worden.

Feist made her appearance feel like a coffeehouse cameo, with solo versions of “The Wagoner’s Lad,” an old folk song, and “Someday Baby,” a recent-vintage Bob Dylan tune. Singing in her warm, flexible voice, she easily held the spotlight by herself. The one exception was “Train Song,” a Vashti Bunyan ballad on which she welcomed Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. More than a dozen singers — members of most of the indie-rock acts on hand, including Bon Iver and Feist — huddled at one end of the stage to warble “This Land Is Your Land.” The gesture felt deferential and sweet, a nod to another big show in town that evening, which honored the folk singer Pete Seger.

This sounds like a cool way to get out the word of AIDS awareness. I think the only way AIDS will be stopped, or prevented from happening further will be to raise awareness. Although these indie rockers aren't as well known as A-listing hollywood actors, they are still getting people involved and getting their word out there.

Do you want to help too?

Is indie music more than a genre? Or is it also a fashion movement?

Indie and underground artists are known for their "rocker" look and "who cares" attitude. The attitude has not changed, but the fashion surely has. Crazy fashion will always be accompanied with music, whether it be the love/hippie movement in the 60's, the grunge movement of the late 80's, early 90's, and the indie movement of today.

Indie Kids don't exactly have the best rep at the moment, especially among those followers who think they may have sold out in order to make it big, but one things for certain- they have an excellent sense of style. Skinny jeans, thin ties and tight shirts are were all the rage when Indie music first came to the forefront, with bands like Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand all sampling the look.
I think the indie fashion movement is inevitable and necessary. All those people who are making fun of "scene kids" and "hipsters" are hipocrits because they are probably the exact same. Whats the big deal anyway? People have been put in stereotypes from the beginning of time, it's not going to stop now. Cowboys listen to country music, and hipsters and indie kids listen to indie and underground music. It's not that I am pro-stereotype, I just figure that people wont ever stop judging one another.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://indie-jam.blogspot.com/2009/04/is-indie-music-more-than-genre-or-is-it.html' title='Is indie music more than a genre? The course is available through MusicIndustrySuccess.com and distributed by Platinum Millennium Publishing, a renowned leader in multimedia solutions. According to Platinum Millennium president Ty Cohen, the course was developed to help upcoming musicians through the complicated world of show business. “There are just a lot of talented artists with a lot of potential for stardom but their abilities just go to waste because they don't have the luxury of time, money and connections to help them out,” Cohen says. “This course may be as close to a do-it-yourself kit to making it big as any musician can get.”

I think this do-it-youself music industry kit sounds good in theory, but sounds too good to be true. Typically, artists are found by chance encounters or by submitting music to record companys. I'm sure music producers would like to hear a new type of artist before signing them. The idea of the course just seems like a scam.

For every order of the course, consumers will also receive the special print edition of the “Secrets to Selling Your Music Online,” three limited edition audio CDs of “Secrets to Making Money in the Music Industry” and a copy of the “Five Blueprints for Music Industry Success.”

If that doesn't sound like a make money fast scam, I dont know what does.
